Lucky with a Little Help from Our Friends

Our Xenia Friends of the Library meet with Xenia Community Library staff to plan their annual sale and strategize funding, approve special requests or needs for programming, and to discuss ways their group can support our staff and community.

Over the last several years our Xenia Friends of the Library have purchased our library’s two telescopes that patrons can borrow with their library card. In addition, Xenia Friends of the Library board members bought a Little Free Library that staff built with teens in a program. The Little Free Library was later placed out in the Xenia community, filled with free books.

The Xenia Friends of the Library provide additional funds for some wonderful Summer Reading Program grand prizes for children, teens, and adults. The group has also given funding to our staff for the last several summers to provide free healthy snacks several times a week, before or after programs, to anyone who may be hungry in our library.

Fun staff events are supported by our Xenia Friends of the Library group as well! Our Xenia Friends group has provided refreshments for staff gaming events and bowling tournaments, and they sponsored prizes for staff members that participated in our Ugly Holiday Sweater Week.

We are extremely lucky to have our Xenia Friends of the Library support us all year round, and in April you will have a chance to support them. Please come out to their Annual Xenia Friends of the Library Book Sale on April 26–28th, and shop for used books and audiovisual materials at bargain prices. All proceeds go directly to support Xenia Community Library’s programs and so much more!
