Art for All Ages at Xenia Community Library!

Pablo Picasso once said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” At Xenia Community Library we know how exciting it is for all ages to draw, color, paint, and sew. This month is no exception to what you can make as a child, teen, or adult.

We have youth programs such as Kids Create and Cityscape Art to give your child a variety of concepts and art materials to try and explore. Our Teen Art Club also meets monthly to expose teens to a diversity of art techniques to discover. This month we'll be hosting a special guest, local artist Jamie Ferguson. Jamie will be demonstrating the basics of how to draw facial features using charcoal.

Did you know that our library has two classes of adults that attend our Panel Twister program series? These quilting classes meet once a month to piece together borders to sew around a panel, creating a throw-sized quilt to keep when their classes are completed. Additional creative offerings continue for adults with our Teardrop Swirl Earrings program this month. One of our Adult Services Librarians will be taking participants step by step through art of quilling to make beautiful teardrop earrings that you can take home and wear. We'll top off this month with pumpkin painting. Adults cannot go wrong decorating their pumpkins to be scary, silly, or any style that they would like to showcase their abilities.

The best part about being an inspired artist at our library is that the materials you use in our programs to make your own masterpieces are totally free! So, if you have not discovered the joys of producing art with other library enthusiasts, we encourage you to join us each month to see what enjoyable shades of art experimentation are happening next.
