It’s during this time of year that you see red scarves turning up in the Cedarville library. Not because of the weather, but because of the hard work of the yarn crafters in Greene County.
Have you heard of the Red Scarf Project? A nationally known organization—Foster Care to Success—supports young adults who have aged out of the foster care system and have gone on to college. Most of these students do not receive the joy of a care package from home, and this is where the Red Scarf Project helps! Like a band of loving grandmas, crafters in Greene County make and donate more than 50 scarves for this project every year. The scarves are in turn sent to students across the country.
“But I don’t know how to knit or crochet!” you might say. This is where our two wonderful groups, Yarnspirational Crafters and In Stitches Yarn Crafters can help! Cedarville Community Library will give you a hook or needles, and a ball of yarn if you have the time and desire to learn. Simply stop by one of their meetings and ask. They’ll get you started with your first stitch, and watch as your first project comes to life.
Just recently a patron asked for help and is having a wonderful time learning. Beginners are always welcome! Stop in and see what you can learn at your library.
