Children's Items for Friends of Pine Ridge Reservation
This Month's Organization:
Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota is home to the Oglala Sioux Tribe with an estimated population of close to 40,000. The reservation is large, and its needs immense, commensurate with grinding poverty. The Friends of Pine Ridge Reservation focus on specific needs of the many schools and social service organizations such as shelters, children's organizations, and clinics physically located on the reservation.
First Families Now (clothes closet for families in need) and Little Singer Community School have need of baby and children clothing, and First Families Now also needs handmade toys. There is a long list of suggested items on their site.
No preemie sized items are needed. For cultural reasons, do not contribute anything depicting owls, snakes, or coyotes.
