Celebrate Your School & Community Libraries

Celebrate Community Libraries

National Library Week , opens a new window(April 23 - 29, 2023) is a time to celebrate our nation's libraries, library workers' contributions and promote library use and support. The theme for National Library Week 2023 is "There's More to the Story," illustrating the fact that in addition to the books in library collections, available in a variety of formats, libraries offer so much more. Each day of National Library Week highlights different aspects of libraries:

Monday, April 24: State of America's Libraries Report released.
Tuesday, April 25: National Library Workers Day, opens a new window, a day for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
Wednesday, April 26: National Library Outreach Day (formerly National Bookmobile Day), a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are.
Thursday, April 27: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to support libraries.

During National Library Week, be sure to connect with us on Instagram & Facebook where we'll be sharing pictures of our amazing library staff! When you visit the library this April, be sure to tag us as well!

Then, join us Wednesday, April 12 at the University of Dayton for ALSC's (Association for Library Service to Children) Children's Literature Lecture featuring award winning children's book illustrator and writer Bryan Collier!

In conjunction with Dayton Metro Library, University of Dayton's Department of Teacher Education, and Scholastic, Bryan Collier will share experiences from his illustrious career with a book signing to follow! Tickets are FREE but required - register here.
