Welcome to June's Online Book Club! This month, we're reading National Velvet by Enid Bagnold.
The Online Book Club, if you've never joined us before, is a book discussion group that takes place entirely online. National Velvet is the story of a young girl named Velvet who is completely obsessed with horses. After winning a horse in a raffle, Velvet is determined to ride the horse and win in the Grand National, the world's greatest steeplechase. Will she be able to accomplish her goal?
If you want to follow along with us but you aren't interested in reading the book, you can always watch the movie version starring Elizabeth Taylor. Check out the trailer above if you want to get a feel for the movie. Feel free to still leave comments on the blog posts, even if you're only watching the movie and not reading the book.
