This year's Summer Reading Club theme, "Unearth a Story," invites readers of all ages to explore new adventures, uncover hidden treasures, and make unforgettable memories all summer long. We have packed June and July with programs that are anything but boring. Let’s take a look!
Kick Off Summer in Style
The fun begins at our Summer Reading Kickoff party at your Xenia Community Library on June 5th from 3:30-7:00pm. Grab your Summer Reading Club tote bag or T-shirt (while supplies last), sign up for our Summer Reading Club, and enjoy activities for the whole family. It's the perfect way to launch a summer full of reading and discovery.
For the Book Lovers
Have you always meant to read the classics? The Classics Book Club is discussing A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle on June 6th. Whether you're a lifelong reader or simply curious about the original Sherlock Holmes mystery, new members are always welcome.
Discover the Stories Behind the Music
The Behind the Music Book Club explores memoirs, music history, genre guides, and other books that dive deeper into the artists and albums we love. Whether you're a casual listener or a devoted music nerd, you'll find plenty to discuss.
Calling All Writers
Have a story brewing in your imagination? Write It Out Xenia! offers dedicated writing time alongside fellow writers in a supportive environment. Bring your notebook, laptop, or favorite writing tools and finally make progress on that story you've been thinking about.
Unearth Hidden Stories Through Music
Music lovers won't want to miss Vinyl, Archives, and Musical Archaeology, where local DJ and professor Art Jipson explores the fascinating backstories behind beloved bands and recordings. It's a perfect fit for this year's "Unearth a Story" theme and promises plenty of musical discoveries.
Celebrate National Typewriter Day
Put down your smartphone and step back in time at Celebrating National Typewriter Day: A Type-In. Visitors can experience the satisfying click-clack of vintage typewriters while celebrating the history of writing and storytelling.
