What we’ve got:

  • Epilog Mini 24
  • Epilog Fusion Pro 32
  • Craft boards and several sizes of acrylic are available in Spark Place. (See price list.)

What you’ll need:

  • An image file, which must be created in a design program
    • ABSOLUTELY NO part of your design can be from Microsoft Office products. These files can be dangerous for the machine and public safety.
  • You may bring in your own items to etch or cut, but remember
    • Spark Place staff MUST CHECK that the items are safe before their use in the laser (see chart below). If staff members cannot verify the safety of your item, it will not be allowed in the laser.
    • All parts of your item MUST be safe for the laser.
    • We do not recommend buying items from Amazon. For sourcing recommendations, please contact Spark Place staff.

  • Unfinished, untreated wood (with no paint, stain, or clear coat)

Related software:

  • Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are available in the makerspace and are recommended for use with the Epilog laser.

File format:

  • In order to cut material, the desired lines must be a vector. Otherwise, any image format will work–as long as it wasn’t created in and has never been in any Microsoft Office product.

Project size:

The Mini - The maximum material size that will fit is 20″ × 12″ × 5.5″
The Pro - The maximum material size that will fit is 32" x 20" x 12.5"
