Wright State University will host a special night with on-court recognition of the amazing work of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio and a special shout out to the leadership and success of our very own Imagination Library program here in Greene County.
Did you know that Ohio’s statewide Imagination Library program launched in 2019? Just six years later we have become the #1 state with the highest enrollment, 70% of households with children under five years in the Program, and more than 22 million books delivered to our young children.
GCPL Executive Director, Karl Colón, was instrumental in bringing the Program to all 88 counties with First Lady DeWine citing Greene County Public Library as the model for the state. Launching locally in 2013, more than 20,000 Greene County children have been a part of the Imagination Library. Current enrollment totals 6,189, which is 70% of all Greene County children from birth to five years old. We’ve seen over 700,000 books delivered in that time and continue to be a model for twenty states and counting!
