Memory Lab

Convert, save, and share your memories at our Memory Lab!

Using the Memory Lab’s equipment is free with your GCPL Library Card. Appointments are scheduled up to a week in advance for sessions from 12-2pm and 2:30-4:30pm. When you’re ready to book your appointment or if you have further questions, call us at (937) 736-7140 during Greene County Room open hours. Walk-in appointments may be available but are not guaranteed – please call ahead as we do get busy!

PLEASE NOTE

  • Equipment use is free of charge, but you will need an external storage device for your digital files (such as a flash drive, memory card, USB drive, or external hard drive).
  • Equipment is intended for personal use and must adhere to the library’s acceptable use policy, including adherence to copyright law for which the user is liable.
  • Don’t have a GCPL library card? Apply for one here.
  • If you are more than 15 minutes late, we cannot guarantee your appointment.
  • Projects and clean up should be completed by closing time.

JVC HR-S3600U VCR and Portta Recorder

  • Formats converted: standard VHS tapes
  • Time required to convert: the length of the video tape being converted.
  • Memory: USB Flash Drive (3.0 or 3.1) or micro SD (TF) Card (minimum 500MB)
    • 30 minutes (1-2 GB); 60 minutes (2-4 GB); 90 minutes (3-6 GB); 120 minutes (4-8 GB)
  • Output format: MP3 audio/visual file

Slides & Negatives

  • Formats converted: 35mm Color & B/W Negatives, 35mm Color & B/W Sides, Medium Format Color & B/W Negatives; Photographic Prints or Documents up to 8.5 x 11 inches
  • Time required to convert: depends on number of items being scanned.
