Welcome to the Online Book Club and a brand-new book for April. This month, we’re reading It by Stephen King.

The Online Book Club, in case you’ve never joined us before, is a book discussion group that takes place entirely online. Each week, I write a new blog post that talks about different aspects of the book, and you can interact directly with me and other readers by leaving a comment in the comments section. Make sure you check back each week and see what new topics we’re talking about!

It is a horror story set in a small town in Maine that is terrorized by a devil-like creature that preys on young children. This creature appears to take many different forms, making it hard to find and define, and it seems to only be seen by children. The story jumps between two time periods, showing how a group of kids tried to defeat It when they were young and then banded together again to defeat It once they are adults.

The story is incredibly creepy and violent, so it’s not for everyone. If you enjoy horror stories and thrillers, though, you’ll love this one. The story is incredibly compelling, and the characters are detailed and realistic. The book is long, but hopefully a few of you will be able to make it through.

If you want to learn more about the story but don’t want to read the book, check out one of the movie versions. And, please leave comments on our blog posts, even if you are just watching and not reading this month. I’m going to leave the trailer for the newest movie release here, just to entice you to follow along with us.

If you want to read along with us, or if you’ve already read the book, we’ll be discussing the first eight chapters starting April 9. I hope to hear from you then!
