Join The Great Thanksgiving Listen

The Great Thanksgiving Listen is a national movement that empowers young people—and people of all ages—to create an oral history of the contemporary United States by recording an interview with an elder, mentor, friend, or someone they admire using the free StoryCorps App.

Would you like to know more about the life of a relative, friend, or community member? Help preserve their story by interviewing them for The Great Thanksgiving Listen.

Your conversation will become part of the StoryCorps Archive at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. You can also choose to add your recording to Greene County Public Library's StoryCorps Archive community.

Recording Your Interview at Home

Start by installing the StoryCorps app on your phone, tablet, or other device.

If you'd like to share your stories with Greene County Public Library, add community code GREENELIBRARY when you create your StoryCorps account. (If you already have a StoryCorps account, you can visit your preferences in the app to apply the community code.)

Follow the prompts in the StoryCorps app to record your interview. When the app asks you to add keywords, remember to include TheGreatListen2019 in your list!

When you prepare or publish your recording, you'll have the option to add the interview to Greene County Public Library's StoryCorps Archive community.
