FAQ's tagged with: donate

We accept donations of materials. As many used items are not appropriate for inclusion in the library’s collection because of age, condition or duplication of materials already owned, the head librarians or their designee at each location will determine the acceptability of any donations for the Greene County Public Library.

We reserve the right to refuse any donations.

We do not assess the value of donations or gifts. Upon request, a receipt verifying the number of items donated will be provided.

Donations that are not added to the library collection are either given to the Friends group for sale at that location or sold by the Greene County Public Library in an ongoing or annual sale.

Other places in the community that may accept book donations include the Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley or The Salvation Army.

We’re a great library because of our many supporters! Here are some ways you can get involved.

Greene County Public Library Foundation

For over a century, Greene County residents have enjoyed the educational and cultural benefits of library service. Library resources and usage have grown steadily, and today the library system consists of seven community libraries throughout the county.

The Library Foundation was established to provide a secure financial foundation that will ensure a legacy of excellence for the future. The Foundation does not replace tax money. Rather, it is intended to enhance the quality and range of library service beyond the level that is the responsibility of the taxpayer.

Friends of the Library

Our Friends:

  • support events at the library such as author visits and programs for kids
  • help with book sales, bake sales, and other fundraising efforts
  • write letters to decision-makers in support of library funding
  • meet other people who love the library!

If you’d like to be a Friend of the Library, connect with your local Friends group or contact your community library.
