Lauren is reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.
I started reading this book because it was recommended for adults who grew up with the Harry Potter series and needed a new world of magic and wizardry. Let me tell you, I have loved every moment in this new world!
Melissa is reading The Library Book by Susan Orlean.
I began reading this book because it is about the 1986 fire at the Central Library of the Los Angeles Public Library. I do not remember reading or hearing about this monumental fire in library history as a child, but Susan Orlean gives a descriptive background of the account and the suspect that law enforcement suspected of setting that fire.
Larry is reading Every Tool's A Hammer by Adam Savage.
A great book for makers who are looking for inspiration or want to learn a little bit about Adam’s journey through making.
Ted finished reading Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits by David Wong.
It was a humorous sci-fi [book] with lots of twists and turns that kept me off balance.
Sandy is currently reading Varina by Charles Frazier, for the Xenia Book Club program she hosts on the second Friday of each month.
She also finished reading Redemption by David Baldacci.
I really like David Baldacci's novels.
Brittany is currently reading Reckless by S.C. Stephens.
It is the third in the Thoughtless series and is a story about an up-and-coming musician who has to find his way through fame, love, and loss. Great and beautiful story!
Sarah is rereading the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. She’s hosting a Harry Potter Club for ages 8 and up and it’s been a while since Sarah has read the Harry Potter series, which begins with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
It's very enjoyable being immersed in Harry's world again.
Sarah is also finishing up Shout by Laurie Halse Anderson.
It's a poetic memoir that deals with the topic of sexual assault and is kind of a follow up to her 1999 novel Speak. It's very powerful.
Mary just finished reading The Good Neighbor by Maxwell King on Hoopla.
This book is the first full length biography about Mister Rogers and chronicles his life as well as many facts about early television shows geared towards children.
Our Summer Reading program is for all ages and goes through August 1st. You don’t have to be a child or teen to enjoy Summer Reading for prizes. Adults can join in the fun to read for prizes as well. So come in to visit us soon to pick up a good read or to claim your prize!
